Artist's Statement

His work fits between video and photography, from documentary to creative work.

Whether his photographic work appeals more to an aesthetic and emotional sense or is closer to the approaches that the market tends to value today, the truth is that in every place that constituted a discovery, when he travelled through our so diverse world, he always tried to create new understandings about what he photographed, according to his perception, sometimes in a more realistic way, sometimes more fictionalised. This search, if often motivated by a selfish attitude, almost always led to the sharing of the themes of his images, which he necessarily ended up transforming when he removed them from their original space and transported them to limited space, be it a sheet of paper be it a screen, in the expectation that some reaction of astonishment, pleasure or displeasure may be awakened in someone.

He is currently a doctoral candidate (Ph.D.) in Contemporary Art at the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra, with a research project, "Research on the invisible of practice: habit, repetition and variation - from the memory of the body to the memory of objects", of theoretical reflection of a philosophical nature and research in which he questions various practices artistic through video and photography.

He has a degree in Art History from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra, and a master's degree in Curatorial Studies at the College of Arts of the UC, with a thesis, focused on the reception of artwork through photography.

He has training in complementary areas such as photography and video.

He also has a Certified Teacher in Photography by Employment and Vocational Training Institute.

He has a long experience in photography work, which has been published in magazines, books, catalogues, advertising posters, flyers, newspapers, and online. He has been shown in solo and group exhibitions.

He has a main interest in the documentation and diffusion process of artwork through photography, preferring a type of photography record that, without prejudice to its documental function, proposes an approach that explores another perceptual dimension, either by the presence of shadows, produced by the modulation of light or by the effects of motion blur, which convey a strong symbolic or metaphorical meaning.

In addition to the pictures taken in the exhibition spaces, his work embraces other themes, revealing a more expressionist tendency to treat the subjects photographed. Landart's photography also has an essential role in his work.
